You have some interesting
programmes.Will you be showing
any films with clara bow?
As 2015 is the 50th anniversary
of her death a commerative programme would be nice,
but why wait till then

  Hi Ray,
  We have been looking into another possible Clara event (after last years Slapstick event we had with Kevin Brownlow). In light of the BBC documentary, we might go back to her sometime early next year. Watch this space.

Do you ever venture any further North ? Surely you can’t all be members of the Flat Earth Society.

Hi John,
Sadly not at the moment (in ref to the events further North; no comment in ref to the Flat Earth Society). We have had the odd event in Edinburgh over the years; but no plans to go any further North in the future. Apart from a one off Slapstick event sometime later in the next month or so. Will post something about that nearer the time.

Please note the Happiness (1934) has been rescheduled to Monday 13th Jan 8pm. We will also be screening Claude Friese-Greene’s early colour documentary of his travels from Lands End to John O’ Groats ‘The Open Road’ (1925) in a travelogue double bill with Andrew Kotting’s brilliant ‘Gallivant’ (1996) on 6th Jan 8pm and Herbert Ponting’s brilliant and deeming moving official record of Captain Scott’s legendary ill-fated journey to the South Pole ‘The Great White Silence’ (1924) on 27th Jan 8pm. Please excuse the shameless plug, but I wanted to let John Howarth know that the Hippodrome Festival of Silent Cinema is further north – Bo’ness, Falkirk to be precise! This year’s Festival takes place 12th-16th March http://www.hippfest.co.uk

Please note that we are no longer based at Southbank Club which means our screening of By the Law (1926) will now be held at The Arts House, 108a Stokes Croft, BS1 3RU on Tuesday 8th April at 8pm. Could you update your calendar accordingly.

We are also screening Karlheinz Martin’s radically stylised adaptation of From Morn To Midnight (1921) at The Arts House on Tuesday 6th May at 8pm

PLEASE REMEMBER that The Late Mathias Pascal on 3rd June starts at 7.30pm, not our usual time of 8pm. This is due to the length of the film.
